Profile: CareER Association is a charitable job-matching platform and peer support community serving highly educated individuals with disabilities and special needs in Hong Kong. Founded in 2014, CareER has grown from a one-person organization to a team of 13 full-time staff, both with and without disabilities, working together. As the first charity in Hong Kong focused on higher education and serving all 10 types of disabilities as defined by the government—including physical disabilities, autism, ADHD, chronic illnesses, and mental illnesses—CareER has become the largest talent pool for highly educated individuals with disabilities, boasting over 1,200 members. The organization collaborates with more than 150 employers, placing an average of 70 to 90 jobs annually, and has successfully placed over 600 jobs with over 300 employers, including full-time, part-time, and internship roles.
Currently, CareER offers a comprehensive range of services to empower and equip our members to pursue their desired career paths. These services include coaching, counseling, orientation camp, joint university student committee, internship program, scholarship program and job matching services. To ensure the sustainable growth of inclusive employers, we have developed various services for employers, such as the CareER Disabilities Inclusion Index, corporate training, and regular networking events for Diversity and Inclusion practitioners. The Index serves as a self-assessment tool and strategic framework to develop corporate disability inclusion strategies in partnership with our title sponsor, Swire Trust.
CareER is an internationally and locally recognized NGO, having been awarded by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and receiving the Zero Project Award globally in Austria.
